Dear vehicle owners, please be aware that according to the latest updates, the Transport Department has strengthened vehicle inspection requirements.
If any of the 13 specified critical defects are found during inspection, the vehicle’s licence will be temporarily suspended. The vehicle must be fully repaired and pass a re-inspection before it can be legally driven again.
⚠️ The specified critical defects include:
Brake system oil leakage
Brake hydraulic hose burst / swelling
Failure of parking brake or brake system
Failure of any wheel brake and the parking brake
Loose wheel nuts (more than one nut)
Low braking efficiency (less than 40%)
Steering system oil leakage dripping onto the ground, with reservoir oil level too low
Steering system components seriously loose / deformed
Two or more tyres with insufficient tread depth / exposed structural layer
Leakage of engine oil or diesel
Chassis cracking or fracturing
Suspension spring broken / severely loosened
Any other faults posing immediate or potential danger
👉 To avoid discovering issues only during the official inspection—risking vehicle downtime or even licence suspension—it is recommended to book a pre-inspection check before your vehicle examination.
🔧 DCH Motor Service Centre offers professional pre-inspection services starting from HK$950, helping you identify issues early, reduce the chance of re-inspection, and complete your vehicle examination with peace of mind!
