Steps to Check Your Car Lights:

Safety always comes first when driving!

Ensuring your vehicle lights are functioning properly can greatly reduce the risk of accidents and protect both you and other road users.

One key step is to regularly check your car lights — here are a few simple steps to help you make sure everything’s working as it should.

1️⃣ Choose a dimly lit area (such as an underground car park or during dusk) — it makes it easier to see the lights clearly.

2️⃣ Check the headlights:

Turn on the daytime running lights and main headlights. Observe whether they’re on and if the brightness is even.

Inspect the headlight covers for cracks, fogging, or dirt.

3️⃣ Check the turn signals:

Activate the left and right indicators separately and observe the flashing speed.

Walk to the front and rear of the vehicle to make sure they’re blinking in sync.

4️⃣ Check the brake lights:

Ask someone to help observe, or park facing a wall, step on the brakes, and see if you can spot the reflection of the lights.

5️⃣ Check the reverse lights:

Shift into reverse (R) gear and see if the white tail lights turn on.

6️⃣ Check the fog lights (if equipped):

Turn on the fog lights and confirm that both the front and rear lights are working.

7️⃣ Check the hazard lights:

Press the hazard light button and make sure all four signal lights flash simultaneously.

Common Issues:

  • Bulbs not lighting up or flashing abnormally

  • Headlight covers foggy or cracked

  • Flashing speed too fast
